martes el siete de mayo

Spanish I:
  • We went over the exercises assigned yesterday.
  • Students learned when to use saber and when to use concoer: both verbs mean "to know"
  • Students then did exercises #12 7 13, pgs 207-208. Due tomorrow.
Grammar Notes:

Saber = to know

Sé         sabemos
sabes    sabéis
sabe     saben

Saber versus Conocer
You use "saber" when you are saying you know facts. You use "conocer" when you are saying that you know people or places, or when you are familiar with something (music, books, paintings...etc)

Conocer = to know
conozco          conocemos
conoces          conocéis
conoce            conocen

Yo conozco Paris. = I know Paris.
Yo sé donde está Paris. = I know where Paris is.

Yo conozco a Ana. = I know Ana. (You must have the personal "a" before a person)
Yo conozco la música de Justin Bieber. = I know Justin Bieber's music.
