viernes, el treinta y uno de mayo

Spanish I:
  • Students went to the lab at Avery today. They worked on each different etapa of the book on the En Espanol website. They need to do a grammar section for: 1.1,1.2,1.3,2.1,2.2,2.3,3.1, and 3.2. They should continue this at home and continue doing it before the final.
Homework:
  • Review worksheet for the final is due on Monday.
  • Answers to the 30 questions for the final are due on Monday.

Final:
  • The final is next Wednesday and Thursday. It covers everything from the beginning of the year.

  • Students finished the second part of the 3.2 test.
  • They continued working (or began) on the worksheet for the final. This is due on Monday.
IMPORTANT:
  • Students received a HUGE packet for the final: study guides for each etapa, all the vocabulary, and all the verbs conjugated. They also got the 30 questions that they need to know for the final. The answers to these are also due on Monday. They will have to answer two of them (at random) orally on the final.

  • They then finished the stem-changing worksheet from yesterday, and once done with that, they received the first worksheet to practice for the final. This is due on Monday.

  • Review worksheet for the final is due on Monday.
Tests:

Spanish I:

  • Students had their last vocab quiz on 3.2 (part 2).
  • We then went over the 3.2 review worksheet passed out last week. (The answers are on this blog, a few posts back).
  • Students received a new worksheet to practice stem-changing verbs. It is due this Thursday.
Final info: Students will receive a big study guide and vocabulary list on Friday.

Today was a half day, with students being sent down to the gym for sports meetings.


Homework:
  • Study vocab and grammar, and the five questions for next week.
Quiz:
  • The last quiz on 3.2 (part 20 will be on Tuesday, May 28th on all the new verbs (saber and the stem-changers) and on the comparison words.
Test: 
  • The 3.2 test will be next week: reading comprehension and listening comprehension on Wednesday, May 29th and the grammar and writing on Thursday, May 20th.
Final:
  • The Spanish I final exam will be on June 5 and 6.

The expression “tan + adjective + como” means “as + adjective +as” in English.  The adjective must agree in number and gender with the subject.

MEJOR/PEOR

Mejor and peor can be adverbs (modifying verbs) or adjectives (modifying nouns).  If they modify nouns, they must agree in number and gender with the noun.

EX:    Mi escuela es mejor que tu escuela. 
                   Mis notas son peores que tus notas. 

Fill in the blank with “mejor(es) que” or “peor(es) que” based on the pictures.  Make them plural when necessary to agree with the noun.
1.    Mi casa es mejor que tu casa. 

2.    Tu carro es peor que mi carro. 
3.    Tu nota es peor que mi nota. 
4.    Mi almuerzo es mejor/peor que tu almuerzo. 
5.    La comida mexicana es mejor/peor que la comida china.
6.    El fútbol es mejor/peor que el fútbol americano.
7.    Mis pantalones son peores que_ tus pantalones.   
8.    Mi sombrero es mejor/peor que tu sombrero.

MÁS DE/MENOS DE

“Más de” and “menos de” are used when followed by a number.

 3.  Hay menos de diez mochilas.
 4.  Hay más de ocho plumas.
 5.  Hay menos de once diccionarios.
