Spanish I:
Began to review for the final which will be on June 9 and 10. You have already received the study guide, and it is also on the blog.

Spanish 8:
Began to write a skit in Spanish about school activities. This will be due by June 9. Your famous Spanish person project is also due June 9th.

Spanish 7:
Here is your study guide for your last chapter test, which will be on June 8 or 10,depending on when you have your class. 

2.2 Examen Study Guide

ü              ALL vocab is fair game!  Make sure that you know everything from past vocabulary tests, even if we rarely used it!

ü              Know the verb “ir” = to go

Yo voy = I go/I’m going                                   Nosotros vamos = We go/are going

Tú vas = you go/You’re going                           Vosotros vais = you go/are going

Él/ella/usted va = He/she/you go/are going    Ellos/ellas/ustedes van = They/you go/are going

Using the verb “ir”:

1)      ¿Adónde vas? = Where are you going?

Voy a la cafeteria. = I am going to the cafeteria.

Voy al gimnasio. = I am going to the gymnasium.

(Remember that ‘a’ +‘el’ becomes ‘al’)

ü              Know the verb ‘estar’ = to be

Yo estoy    = I am                                  Nosotros estamos = We are

Tú estás      = You are                             Vosotros estáis = You are

Él/ella/usted está = He/she/you is/are   Ellos/ellas/ustedes están = They/you are

Using the verb “estar”:

We use the verb “estar” to say where people or things are located.

La profesora está en la clase. = The teacher is in the classroom.

2) ¿Dónde está…?  = Where is…?

¿Dónde está Ricardo? Ricardo está en la clase. = Where is Richard? Richard is in class.

ü              Know how to tell time

1) Any 1:00 time is considered singular, and you must start your sentence with

 “Es la una.”

Any 2:00-12:00 time is considered plural, and you must start your sentence with

“Son las dos.”

 2) Use ‘y’ + minutes for the number of minutes after the hour.

1:05    Es la una y cinco. (Do not say ‘cero” for zero)

2:10:   Son las dos y diez.

  3) Use ‘menos’ + minutes for the number of minutes before the hour.

12:50   Es la una menos diez.

1:50     Son las dos menos diez.

4) Use ‘cuarto’ for quarter past and ‘media’ for half past.

1:15    Es la una y cuarto.

2:30    Son las dos y media.

5) When you are talking about when something will happen, use “a la una/a las dos”

¿A qué hora es la clase de español? La clase de español es a las dos. = At what time is Spanish class? Spanish class is at 2 pm.

6) Know how to answer the question:

¿Qué hora es? = What time is it?

Es la una/Son las dos. = It is one o’clock/It is two o’clock.

Here are the questions you must know how to answer for part of your final exam grade. You will asked 1-3 questions (Depending on how much time is available), and they will be picked at random. POints will be taken off for each mistake you make.

1.  ¿Cómo te llamas?

       Me llamo ....

                     (your name)

example: Me llamo Señora Roth.

2.  ¿Cómo eres?

      Soy ...

            (describe your looks or personality)

Example: Soy baja y trabajadora.

3.  ¿Cómo es tu mejor amigo?

      Mi mejor amigo/amiga es...

                                         (describe the looks or personality of your best friend)

  

4.  ¿De dónde eres?

      Soy de...

                 (name what city, state, or country you come from)
Example: Soy de España.

5.  ¿Cuál es tu teléfono?

      Mi teléfono es...

                              (give your phone number in Spanish)
Example: Mi teléfono es dos, cuatro, ocho,...

6.  ¿Qué día es hoy?

     Hoy es...

                 (name the day of the week)
Example: Hoy es viernes.

7.  ¿Cómo estás?

       Estoy...

                (describe how you are feeling today)
Example: Estoy cansada.

8.  ¿Qué te gusta hacer?

      Me gusta...

                       (tell me what you like, or what you like to do)
Example: Me gusta el chocolate.
               Me gustan los perros.
              Me gusta bailar.
              Me gusta cantar y bailar.

9.  ¿Qué hay en tu mochila?

       Hay...

              (list what is in your backpack)
Example: Hay unos livros y un lápiz.

10.  ¿Dónde vives?

       Vivo en...

                      (tell me where you live, either place or building)
Example: Vivo en Ferndale.

11.  ¿Qué llevas hoy?

         Llevo...

                  (tell me what you are wearing today)
Example: Llevo una camiseta y unos pantalones.

12.  ¿Cuántos años tienes?

          Tengo ... años.

                   (say how old you are in Spanish)
Example: Tengo cuarenta y cinco años.

13.  ¿Cuál es la fecha?

         Hoy es ...., el... de ... (Give today's date)

Example: Hoy es viernes, el tres de junio.

14.  ¿Qué hora es?

        Es la.../Son las...

          (Tell me the time it is when you are asked this question)
Example: Son las nueve y nueve.

15.  ¿A qué hora es la clase de español?

         La clase de español es a la/a las...

                                                         (tell me what time your Spanish class is at)
Example: La clase de español es a las nueve y diez.

16.  ¿Estudias siempre para la clase de matemáticas?
        Yo...

        (Tell me how often you study for math class, making sure you put the adverb of frequency in the correct place: either before the verb, after the verb, or at the beginning or end of the sentence. Adverbs like never, always, sometimes, etc...

Example: Yo siempre estudio para la clase de matemáticas.

17.  ¿Con qué frecuencia ayudas a tu mamá?
       Yo...

         (Tell me how often you help your mother making sure you put the adverb of frequency in the correct place: either before the verb, after the verb, or at the beginning or end of the sentence. Adverbs like never, always, sometimes, etc...)

       (Tell me where you go on Fridays)
Example: Yo voy a la escuela.

         (Tell me where your mother is right now)
 Example: Mi mamá está en casa (en la oficina)

20.  ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?
        Mi cumpleaños es el... de...
         (Tell me when your birthday is)
Example: Mi cumpleaños es el trece de marzo.

21.  ¿Por qué tienes que estudiar?
         Tengo que estudiar para...
       (Tell me why you have to study)
Example: Tengo que estudiar para sacar buenas notas.

22.  ¿Quién es tu maestra favorita?
       Mi profesor/profesora favorito/favorita es...
       (Tell me who your favorite teacher is)
Example: Mi profesora favorita es Señora Roth. :-)

23.  ¿Qué vas a hacer después de la escuela hoy?

         (Tell me what you will do after school today)

28.  ¿Qué prefieres más: el fútbol o el fútbol americano?
          Yo prefiero el fútbol.
        (Tell me if you prefer soccer or football)

29.  ¿Entiendes mucho o poco en la clase de historia?
       Sí, yo entiendo mucho./No, no entiendo mucho.
       (Tell me if you understand a lot or a little in history class)

30.  ¿Cuál es tu clase favorita?

Spanish I

• took a practice open book quiz to prepare for the chapter test tomorrow. This will go in the Spanish 8 grade book, as a class work grade (NOT a test grade).
• Your final exam will be held in two lessons, on June 9 and 10.

Spanish 8

• will not have a final exam.
• Famous Hispanic project is due June 9. This must be a research project about a famous Hispanish person, written in English in paragraph form (NOT just simply list of dates and facts). It must include a photo.
• reviewed the last few chapters on pronouns, ar verb endings, adverbs of frequency, using "ir a" and "estar" with location. All these notes are in past blogs.
• learned the -er and -ir verb endings
