martes, el veinticuatro de abril

Spanish I:
  • We went over yesterday's exercises.
  • We reviewed how to use the verb gustar, and learned how to use the plural forms of gustar, and how to add the "a" before a name, or to stress who is liking something.
  • Students did exercises # 16 and 17 on pg 188 in a written form, due tomorrow, and also did the listening exercise #18 in class.
Grammar Lesson:

  • Using the verb "gustar" = to like
You use gustar to say that you like something. It is not conjugated the normal way, and does not follow the o,as,a,amos, áis, an forms. You do not use the pronouns yo, tú, etc. Instead you begin the snete4nce with me,te,le, nos,os or les, deopending on who likes the thing.

Me gusta = I like                          Nos gusta = We like
Te gusta = You like (for tú)          Os gusta = You like (for vosotros)
Le gusta = He likes, She likes       Les gusta = They like
You like (for usted)                       You like (for ustedes)

Ex. sentences

Me gusta bailar. = I like to dance

Me gusta el perro. = I like the dog.
Me gustan los perros. = I like the dogs. if what you like is plural, or you like more than one thing, gusta changes to gustan
