miércoles, el cinco de diciembre

Spanish I:

  • 1st and 2nd hour reviewed two chapters today: first the etapa preliminar and then unidad 1, etapa 1. They received worksheets on these chapters, to practice for the test on Monday, Dec. 10th.
Grammar Notes for Etapa Preliminar:
  • Students reviewed how to give their name, phone number, say where they are from, and say what day it is today and what day  tomorrow is. They also reviewed how to give the name of a friend, and say where that friend is from.
¿Cómo te llamas? = What is your name?
Me llamo… (insert your name)e.g. Me llamo Ana.
¿Cómo se llama tu mejor amigo(a)?
Se llama... (insert name): e.g Se llama Rosa.


¿De dónde eres? = Where are you from?
Soy de… (add city or state or country: e.g. Soy de Michigan).
¿De dónde es tu mejor amigo(a)?
Es de... add city ir state or country) e.g Es de Michigan.

¿Cuál es tu teléfono? = What is your phone number?
Mi teléfono es … (add your number. Write them in Spanish).

¿Qué día es hoy? = What is today?
Hoy es… (add the day of the week: e.g. Hoy es lunes).
¿Qué día es mañana? = What is tomorrow?
Mañana es... (add the day of the week: e.g. Mañana es lunes).

Grammar Notes for Unidad 1, Etapa 1:

  • Students reviewed how to say where someone lives (house or apartment), and what their job is. they also reviewed how to ask someone how they are feeling, for both familiar and formal questions.
¿Cómo estás? = How are you? (To a friend or family)
¿Cómo está usted? = How are you? (to be polite or formal)
Estoy… (insert feeling: – e.g. Estoy bien, mal, etc)

¿Qué te gusta hacer? = What do you like to do?
Me gusta … y … (add two verbs of things you like to do: e.g. Me gusta bailar y cantar.)
A Juan le gusta bailar. = Juan likes to dance. (Important: You must have the "A" before someone's name to say that they like to do something).

Ana vive en una casa. = Ana lives in a house.
Juan vive en un apartamento. = Juan lives in an apartment.
Ana es una doctora. = Ana is a doctor.
Juan es un policía. = Juan is a policeman.

  • Students had a worksheet on the weather words, matching them, and writing out the correct sentences. They will have a quiz on this in two weeks.
