miércoles, el tres de octubre

Spanish I:

  • We went over the reading comprehension and yesterday's book exercises.
  • Students added the verb gustar to their verb sheet, and we reviewed how to use gustar.
  • Students began book exercises, which are not homework, and will be finished in class tomorrow.
Grammar:
The verb gustar has a different conjugation. It only uses the third person singular (gusta) or third person plural (gustan).

Gustar = To like
Me gusta     Nos gusta
Te gusta      Os gusta
Le gusta      Les gusta

1) Gustar + a verb: Only use gusta form

Me gusta bailar. = I like to dance.
Te gusta bailar y cantar.= You like to dance and sing.

2) Gustar + a noun: use gusta or gustan form

a) With a singular noun, use gusta
Me gusta el perro. = I like the dog.
Nos gusta el perro. = I like the dogs.

b) With a plural noun, use gustan
Me gustan los perros. = I like the dogs.
Nos gustan los perros. = We like the dogs.

Classwork
  • Exercise #16, pg 39. This is not homework, and will be finished in class tomorrow.
Quiz:
  • 1.1 vocabulary quiz (part 2) on Monday, Oct 8th.
IMPORTANT:
We will have a break from quizzes during MEAP. For the next few weeks, we will be doing skits, and listening activities with songs and lyrics.You can start looking for Spanish songs on pandora.com or youtube.com. You must show me your song to have it approved by me for lyric content.

3rd grade:
  • Students continued working on flash cards and the word search. Those who finished are working on a small introduction skit in Spanish.
