The verb ser = to be:
Yo soy = I am Nosotros somos = We are
Tú eres = you are Vosotros sois = You are
Él es = He is Ellos son = They are
Ella es = She is Ellas son = They are
Usted es = you are Ustedes son = You are
You use ser for things that can never change or take a long time to change:
- your gender
- your nationality
- your religion
- your job (career)
- your looks and personality
- your origin
You use estar for things that can change quickly:
- feelings
- location
- being sick or healthy
