martes, el quince de noviembre

Spanish I:

  • We went over how to talk about family relationships and how to use possessive adjectives.
  • Students did exercises #3,4 and 5 pgs 76-77. These are due tomorrow.
Grammar Notes:

There is no apostrophe in Spanish, so you cannot say "Ann's father". You must say "the father of Ann"


1)      How to describe family relationships, using a family tree.

Pablo es el padre de Manuel. = Pablo is the father of Manuel.

You must know all the family words from the vocabulary sheet.

Father = el padre

Mother = la  madre

Sister/brother = el/la hermano/hermana

Son/daughter = el/la hijo/hija


Grandfather/grandmother = el/la abuelo/abuela

Aunt/uncle = el/la t
ío/tía

cousin = el/la primo/prima



2)      How to use possessive adjectives:

Shawn es mi hijo. = Shawn is my son.
Nuría es nuestra abuela. = Nuría is our grandmother.

You must know all the possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her, their, our) from the vocabulary sheet.

My = mi/mis (for "yo")

Your = tu/tus (for "t
ú") 


His/her/your/their =su/sus ( for "
Él/ella/usted/ellos/ellas/ustedes)

Our =nuestro/nuestra  nuestros/nuestras (for nosotros)

Your = vuestro/vuestra  vuestros/vuestras (for vosotros)

Examples: 

The shirt is Juan’s. It is his shirt. = La camisa es de Juan. Es su camisa.


4th Grade Spanish:


  • Students worked on a numbers worksheet, using numbers from 1-31. They will have a practice quiz on these words next week.
